SPJRD Talks 2024 opens its first session on literature from Malaysian and Filipino perspective
May 24, 2024— The Publication Unit rallied nationwide Higher Education Institution (HEI) research practitioners and students for literature studies in the first SPJRD Talks session 2024 hosted via Zoom teleconference.
The cornerstone for these discussions is the Southeastern Philippines Journal of Research and Development (SPJRD), the Scopus-indexed research journal of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP). SPJRD Talks has been initiated as an online platform for researchers, including faculty, non-teaching staff, and students, to delve into newly published research from SPJRD issues.
Held under the theme “Power, Discourse, and Identity,” the first session of the webinar encompassed a forum on the study “A Fictocritical Narration of the Complexity of Nation-building in Malaysia,” authored and presented by Nasirin Abdillah, an Associate Professor from University Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia. This study was published in Volume 28, No. 2 (September 2023).
Another significant study, “Phases of Filipino Proletarianism in the 20th Century Dagling Tagalog: A Critique Using Pierre Macherey’s Theory of Gaps and Silences,” authored and presented by Ms. Reah Izza T. Paglinawan, was also featured for discussions in the session. This study was recently published in Volume 29, No. 1 (March 2024) and was co-authored by Dr. Hanafi Hussin from Universiti Malaya in Malaysia.

Beyond promoting the visibility of SPJRD as a reputable, indexed platform for scholarly publication, the webinar series also aimed to encourage researchers to submit their studies for consideration by the journal.
